In a previous article, the notion of mind was examined under the
dualistic distinction between symbol processing and situated view, while it was
concluded that sociocultural ideas harmonize with the situated, non-local view
of mind. Moreover, mind was characterized as “agentive” contributing on the one
hand to the construction of a social perspective and on the other by receiving
this perspective back as a new understanding while the process of learning
could be identified in this particular process of “give and take” or of
“meaning negotiation” occurring when individuals participate in collective and
purposeful activities.
My personal
understanding about mind and learning and the transformation of this
understanding are illustrated below.
